Itanagar, Oct 29: A videoconference under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, participated by all the Deputy Commissioners was conducted today to review the pressing issues such as preparation for APPSCCE Prelims., drug de-addiction, utilization certificates of CSS, PMMVY and others.
The virtual meeting was also joined by APPSC member, Major General Ganesh Chandra Singh Bisht (Retd.). The Chief Secretary while reviewing the status of preparedness of the respective DAs for conducting the vital examination scheduled on November 1 in 15 districts, asked the DCs to remain in station on the day to ensure a glitch-free conduct. He further directed them to follow all Covid-19 SOPs during the examination, the number of examinees for which will around 26000 this year. 
Taking note of the alarming increase of drug menace in the state with youngsters falling victims, the Chief Secretary gave a clarion call to the DCs to launch a war against it. While requesting them to take the issue as a personal responsibility to save the younger generation, he asked them to use all the resources including manpower to stop the menace which involves illicit drug trafficking, opium and other cultivation etc. “It is now a mission to make Arunachal Pradesh a drug free state. Namsai, Lohit and Anjaw will be taken up as a pilot project to make the state drug free,” CS informed. DC Namsai was also asked by the CS to work on developing the drug de-addiction centre in Namsai as a model institute. Views and suggestions of the NGOs working on drug de-addiction and rehabilitation were also taken in the meeting.
Considering the delay in release of additional funds from the Centre due to non-submission of Utilization Certificates, the Chief Secretary directed the DCs to instruct their subordinate departments to submit the same for various Central schemes under their districts at the earliest. PRO CS
