Itanagar, Jun 26: The 36th State Level Screening Committee (SLSC) meeting on Border Area Development Programme (BADP) was held today here at Civil Secretariat Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Satya Gopal.
Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that the tentative allocation for 2019-20 under BADP for Arunachal Pradesh will be in the tune of about Rs. 65.489 crore (with 10 per cent state share). Chief Secretary while taking stock of the Annual Action Plan submitted by the Deputy Commissioners emphasized on beneficiary oriented projects and doubling of farmers income through BADP by incorporating income generating activities with an average of 100 beneficiaries in each Block of the Model Village.
Stating that schemes should benefit the public and percolate down to them, he added that criteria for selection of beneficiaries should essentially be farmer(s) or families whose income is below Rs. 2.5 lakh per annum, landless labourers and marginal & small farmers. For income generating activities, avenues in Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Dairy, Agriculture and Horticulture could be explored, he suggested.
He also took account of the status of VKVs under BADP in Lazu, Nafra, Mukto, Amliang, Niusa Koloriang and Chayangtajo.
Annual Action Plan(AAP) under BADP 2019-20 in respect of 15 districts were presented by respective Deputy Commissioners assisted by the District Planning Officers. The 15 districts that are covered under BADP are Tawang, West Kameng, East Kameng, Upper Subansiri, Kurung Kumey, Kra-Daadi, Shiyomi, Siang, Upper Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, Anjaw, Tirap, Changlang, Longding, and Dibang Valley. The Committee selected the AAPs submitted by Deputy Commissioners with partial modifications giving special impetus to beneficiary oriented and income generation schemes with a direction to submit all pending Utilization Certificates within a time limit of 2-3 months.
