 ITANAGAR, Apr 8:  Chief Secretary Shakuntala D Gamlin today flagged off three vehicle lifting cranes to check traffic defaulters in No Parking Zones in the capital complex at a simple function here today. The Ministry of Road Transport & Highway (Road Safety) Government of India had provided three Cranes to the Directorate of Transport, Government of Arunachal Pradesh in the year 2013 which were lying used till now. The vehicles have been taken over with memorandum of understanding between Director of Transport and Chief Estate Officer on April 6. 

Informing that instances of traffic violations are increasing, the CS said that many are adamant to follow rules and knowingly parked their cars in No Parking Zones due to which other commuters face lots of difficulty.

‘Due to such parking there are traffic jams in few places during odd hours. The three cranes which were lying in the Transport Department for quite some time needs to be utilised and it will be under the disposal of ADM cum Chief Traffic Warden, since he is already carrying such activities in the state capital and he would take the help of Capital District administration as well as traffic police in this regard,’ Gamlin said. 

‘These vehicles were kept idle since 2013 but under the direction and guidance of present Chief Secretary they will be used to provide assistance to the Itanagar traffic police and to lift vehicles violating rules to designated parking lots which would be made ready very soon in the Capital Complex,’ ADM Talo Potom informed.

The cranes will be used for traffic purpose and violation under Motor Vehicle Act will be challaned which shall be deposited to government treasury. Deputy Commissioner Capital Prince Dhawan, SP Traffic Togo Karga among others were present.
