Yupia, Jun 19: The state government has compensated the family of a Covid-19 warrior who passed away after contracting the infection while on duty.
It may be recalled that late Lalit Rijal, a Health Assistant at Hollongi Primary Health Centre had succumbed to Covid 19 infection last year on 11th September 2020 at Tezpur Medical College, Assam while performing Covid duty at point of entry at Hollongi Gate. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Late Rijal's family had received the compensation amount of Rs.50 Lakhs through direct benefit transfer on June 15. 
A small felicitation programme was organized to felicitate the first beneficiary of  Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package-an insurance Scheme for Health Workers fighting Covid 19 which was attended by  Osi Taki Rijal, wife of late Rijal in the presence of Director Health Services Dr.M. Lego, DMO Yupia Dr. Komling Perme and Dr.Nabum Peter Nodal Officer PMJAY/CMAAY at DMO office Yupia today.
Dr.M.Lego DHS while expressing deep sorrow over the loss of life advised the beneficiary to utilise the compensation amount judiciously and in a meaningful way.
The family members touched by the concern shown by the office of District Medical Officer Papum Pare,  expressed their gratitude to the government and Health Department and all other stakeholders. DIPRO
