TAWANG, Jun 3: In the ongoing Covid vaccination drive in Tawang district, Mogto under Jang Subdivision till June 2 evening has emerged as the first Circle in the entire district to attain maximum coverage of the first dose in the 45+ age group category.
While informing about the achievement, Circle Officer Dorjee Wangchu said that the team of PHC Mogto and Circle Administration went door to door to convince people to get vaccinated. Many of them were not turning up for vaccination because of being engaged in farming and yak rearing or due to motion sickness during journey by vehicle to the vaccination sites, the Circle Officer informed, adding that except for one individual in Khyed and two in Mogto village who couldn’t be inoculated due to refusal and medical reasons, all the rest in the 45+ age category were given the first dose. As per the data provided by Medical Officer, PHC Mogto Dr Jiarul Haque, a total of 614 persons in the 45+ age category have been inoculated with dose 1 of the Covishield vaccine and 295 of them have received dose 2.
To halt the march of Covid in Tawang, the entire district was categorized as containment zone from May 17-31, with a further extension till June 7. The District Administration, Health department along with frontline workers are working on a war footing to reach the targets of contact tracing, testing, treating and vaccinating, especially for the 45+ age people at every village and Circle. 
Although there was hesitation among people initially to get vaccinated, after sustained awareness campaigns, they are coming forward voluntarily. DIPRO
