ITANAGAR, May 29: Arunachal's Covid graph continued to rise on Saturday, as it has been all throughout the week with 3 more deaths and an uncomfortable rise of new cases.
A 57-yr old male Covid patient from the ICR with multiple comorbidities who was not vaccinated died today at DCH Chimpu due to ARDS. A 70-yr old male Covid patient from East Siang who was vaccinated with dose 1 died while on home isolation due to cardio respiratory failure. In a disturbing development a female infant aged one year and 4 months with acute malnutrition died due to Covid pneumonia at DCH Pasighat. With these 3 casualties, the state's Covid count on Saturday evening stood at 114.
A total of 461 new cases were added today (asymptomatic 265, symptomatic 196). While ICR and Changlang were the first two in terms of new caseloads with 70 and 67 respectively, Siang had the highest positivity rate with 26%. Active cases are zooming towards with 3918 on Saturday evening. Recoveries saw more improvement over the previous day with a total of 394 (ICR 74, Changlang 60, Tawang 41 the first 3 districts). With these new recoveries, the state’s discharge tally is now 22746. A total of 7441samples were also collected on the day from across the state.
No improvement in Covid vaccination was observed on the day with 88 individuals in the 18-44 age group vaccinated with the first dose and as of May 29, 20487 have been vaccinated with dose 1. In the 45+ category, 569 were vaccinated with dose 1 on the day which took the count to 147406. With only 19 vaccinations, the 2nd dose-taker tally is now 35879.
