RONO HILLS, Apr 24: In view of the recent Covid surge in the state and across the country, a virtual meeting to discuss matters related to the modified academic calendar of Rajiv Gandhi University for 2020-21 session and the altered examination schedule was convened today by the varsity authority with the affiliated colleges.
RGU Vice Chancellor Professor Saket Kushwaha presided over the meeting which was participated by 34 Principals of the total 45 affiliated colleges. Registrar Dr N.T. Rikam informed that as per the notice (No. RGU/REG/COVID-19/1/20) issued by the varsity dated April 17, all offline classes including practical classes/practical examinations/session tests will be completed within two weeks by the departments/institutes strictly adhering to all COVID-19 SOPs. Controller of Examinations (CoE) Dr Bijay Raji while presenting the tentative examination schedule informed that practical classes/examinations will be completed by the end of April and examination routine for PG, UG, M.Phil and PhD course work will be released in a day or two.
Joint Registrar (Academic & Conference) Dr David Pertin informed that the last phase of the current academic calendar had to be partially modified with effect from May 2021 onwards keeping in view of the sudden surge of the pandemic and in conformity with the applicable government SOPs. However, the modified academic calendar is subject to further changes based on UGC/ME guidelines or directives issued from time to time, he said, informing along with that mode of admission and classes for the next academic session will be decided by the varsity in the coming days based on actual risk assessment and latest government directives. Meanwhile, keeping in view the late start of classes due to COVID situation, in some of the new departments separate academic calendars for the remaining academic session will be notified by the respective Heads for courses pertaining to Agriculture, Food Technology and Sports Sciences. Dean, Academic Affairs Professor S.K. Singh informed that classes may be continued through online mode even after April wherever necessary.
The VC urged the Principals of the affiliated colleges to submit the required data and documents of the students on time to the office of the Controller of Examinations for timely declaration of results. He also advised them to go for a blended mode of examinations and submit timely feedback on the proceedings to cope up with any eventualities arising out of Covid. Speaking about the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) to be implemented from the 2021-22 academic session, Professor Kushwaha assured it will be implemented smoothly. Pro VC Professor Amitava Mitra presented the modified academic calendar of the varsity for the remaining session.
The Principals of the affiliated colleges were urged to cooperate with the varsity for smooth conduct of the examinations. While welcoming the new schedule the Principals and assured the RGU hierarchy to follow the modified academic calendar in letter and spirit.
