BANDERDEWA, Jun 9: A Covid-19 positive patient hailing from Pakke Kesang district after emerging victorious in the battle against the virus was discharged from the Covid Care Facility here.
The patient was kept in the Covid Care Centre after testing positive and after multiple swab tests came out negative, he was discharged and sent for 14 days home quarantine.
Papum Pare DC Pige Ligu handed over the discharge slip to the recovered patient in presence of ADC Kimin, Likha Tejji, DMO M Perme and other healthcare staff. Earlier, Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday took to Twitter to announce the recovery of the patient after his swab samples tested negative consecutively for two times.
Interacting with the media, Ligu congratulated the patient for winning the fight against the virus and appealed to the people not to discriminate the recovered patients and rather treat them as symbols of “hope and victory.” Reiterating the District Administration’s strong stand against discrimination of recovered Covid patients, DC warned that legal action may be initiated against those found to be discriminating or stigmatizing the recovered patients or healthcare officials under the Disaster Management Act. Ligu further called on everyone to raise awareness against the fake myths relating to the pandemic and thwart the spread of fear and misinformation within communities.
ADC Kimin, Likha Tejji also appealed all not to discriminate against the healthcare workers who have been playing a crucial role in the fight against the deadly coronavirus. “All the frontline workers are performing their duties fully knowing the health hazards associated with it. But stigmatization and discrimination aren’t something they are mentally prepared for,” ADC underscored, adding that it’s time to extend empathy and encouragement to them.

DMO Capital, Mandip Perme appealed the citizens to treat the recovered patients as normal persons, reassuring that those cured from Covid-19 do not infect others.
