Aalo, Sep 24: In an exemplary gesture of magnanimity, a couple in West Siang district has donated 22000 sq mtr. of prime land located below the BRTF road between Kerang and Keak villages for establishment of a model village.
The donors, Gibi Tato and Minli Tato had been giving all efforts to make the model village (named Minli-Gibi village) and after three years the locals can now see road connectivity, children’s park, playground and nine well-built uniform dwelling houses.
Minli Tato while disclosing that facilities for drainage, rearing of livestock, granary, impoverished toilets, electrification etc. are being worked out from various sources, also lamented that although the village is a notified one, many facilities are still awaited as village census has not been carried out. Additionally, the jungle land above the roadside belonging to him will also be spared for construction of a prayer centre and mitigation of forest material needs of the villagers. The said village will be formally inaugurated at an appropriate time after fulfilling all basic needs, he informed.
Meanwhile, the couple along with village committee celebrated its third Foundation Day as a part of Seva Saptah on September 23 last wherein nine students of the village were each given writing materials and a bicycle to enable them to reach their schools at Kaying and Keak. Rich ornamental tree saplings were planted along the roadside up to the village.
DF & CSO Rebom Nguso Lendo and DIPRO Gijum Tali witnessed the daylong programme and praised the couple for their rare humanitarian gesture. DF&CSO gave away AAY cards to the villagers and sponsored a sum of Rs.10000 in advance for the first student who crosses the Class X hurdle from the village.
Prominent public leaders, officers, BJP workers, GBs and common people attended the programme. DIPRO
