NAHARLAGUN, Mar 15: To take stock of the preparedness level for treating prospective Covid 19 patients, a team comprising Deputy Commissioners of Capital Region & Papum Pare, Komkar Dulom and Pige Ligu respectively along with DMOs Dr Mandip Perme and Dr Tasso Kampu Subu on Sunday visited the isolation ward here at the TRIHMS.
The DCs stressed on ensuring all precautionary measures to stop the spread of the lethal coronavirus as well as keeping the isolation wards and quarantine sites ready if any case is detected.
Chief Medical Superintendent, TRIHMS Dr Hage Ambing informed each room in the isolation ward has a capacity of 6 beds and the whole block can be upgraded to accommodate 35 patients at a time, if needed.
The team also visited the identified quarantine site at the Scouts & Guides facility in Polo Colony wherein the DCs underscored on containment of the disease and assured the caretaker that all necessary help would be provided to make the rooms clean, sanitized and well-equipped and the state government will be informed accordingly.
State Organising Commissioner of Scouts and Guides, Chanyan Lowang informed the centre has four dormitories each of which has a capacity to accommodate 20 people and also has two additional rooms which can accommodate 6 people each.
Later, the team visited the RKM Hospital wherein the DCs interacted with its Secretary and inspected the earmarked isolation ward in presence of Medicine Specialist Dr. T Motu. This will be utilised for treating Covid-19 patients in addition to the TRIHMS facilities if situation demands. The DCs while stating that adequate measures are being taken by the state government to contain the disease, appealed the denizens not to panic and report any kind of symptom to the nearest health centre. DMO Perme also informed that regular screenings are being conducted at all entry checkpoints, railway station and helipad.
