NAMSAI, Sep 19: Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein while presiding over a developmental meeting of the aspirational district of Namsai today here at DC Conference Hall has reminded the need for coordinated efforts from all stakeholders for overall progress of Arunachal Pradesh.
Mein said that since Namsai is a new district, it could be developed into a model one with proper planning and efforts from all stakeholders besides exhorting the officials to be punctual in duties. While taking stock of the progress made under ‘Hamara Vidyalaya Initiatives’ that was launched last month in the district, Mein lauded the initiatives under the programme. Following this year’s example wherein all the three MLAs from the district had contributed fund for infrastructure development of the district hospital, next year there would be contribution of fund for infrastructure development of the schools, DCM informed. He further emphasized on 100 % electricity, toilet and boundary walls in all schools, besides reiterating the need for rationalization of teachers’ posting so that there is no shortage of teachers in the remote pockets.
Calling for improving quality of education, he advocated for introduction of biometric system of attendance in all educational institutions of Namsai and stringent action against irregular or absentee teachers. Speaking on ‘Green Namsai’ Mein asked the Divisional Forest Officer to provide saplings of avenue trees to the schools and offices and carry out plantation drive. Citing drug addiction as a social evil, he called for a social movement against it and asked to make the Drug De-Addiction Centre functional. He also spoke on the need to establish a Rehabilitation Centre here which would be run by an NGO and an ideal Farmer Training Centre in the district. To promote e-rickshaw for an eco-friendly environment, DCM also asked the DC to install power points for free charging of e-rickshaws in the district headquarter.
Robotic Awareness Programme, which will be introduced in the district’s schools by the Department of Science & Technology was launched by him along with the flagging-off of four ambulances named ‘Peheli Savari’ meant for carrying in and dropping of pregnant women to hospitals. Mein also inaugurated Poshan Mela which is being organized by the Department of Women & Child Development, GoAP in collaboration with the Urban Development Department.
