ITANAGAR, Mar 16: The All Arunachal Contactors Welfare Association (AACWA) has urged the concerned authority to invoke financial emergency in the state, citing that the state government has failed to release any funds and bills to the contractors for the last many months.
Addressing reporters at Press Club, President AACWA, Nabam Akin Hina claimed that the state government has failed to release pending funds of various projects to genuine contractors who have already completed their projects.
He stated that they (contractors) have been running from office to office but authority is not paying heed to their grievances.
'If the government is not in a position to release the funds or bills then they should come clean with the financial status of the state and declare financial emergency in the state,' Hina stated while adding that many contractors are now on the verge of taking extreme steps as they have borrowed money from the market with interest to complete the projects.
He also criticised the government by adding that 'This government is not at all interested to meet genuine NGOs but is only interested to meet beauty pageants and showbiz personalities.'
The association further alleged that state government is discriminating between people by sanctioning developmental works to particular areas.
As per report, many ongoing schemes have not been listed in RE-2019 but none of the schemes have been revoked under Department of Karmik & Adhyatmik and DoTCL. There are many schemes like construction of auction and collection centre of cardamom at Kimin, Bhalukpong and Namsai for which tender has been already floated and work is in progress but surprisingly these projects have been scrapped from RE-2019-20, Hina alleged.
AACWA has further urged the state government to enhance the tender limit of Class III, IV and V from Rs 50 to Rs 1 crore, Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore and Rs 3 crore to Rs 5crore.
