NAHARLAGUN, Apr 21: The All Arunachal Contractors’ Welfare Association (AACWA) has suggested the state government to set up Covid-19 testing laboratories in each district hospital using MLALAD funds.
AACWA, in its press release issued on Tuesday said due to unavailability of lab testing centres in the state, exact number of Covid-19 cases cannot be ascertained and there are also delays due to dependency on neighbouring states. The association has underlined that before lockdown many Arunachalees had returned to the state after national and foreign tours, but the health department is testing only those who entered the state after lockdown. In relation to this, it has urged the state government to set up testing labs in each district hospitals and also highlighted the need for creating sufficient back up for the health department. The association has appreciated the police, administration, doctors, nurses and health workers who are putting their life at risk in fighting the pandemic and has appealed the common people to cooperate with the state government in the efforts.
AACWA has also urged the state government for early clearance of government cheques issued to the contractors and initiate the process for authorization of releasing LOC against all government project works. Since the contractors had cooperated with the government by waiting for a month and now GoI has also issued relaxation in functioning of government offices, all DAs should issue vehicle passes to them for carrying cement, rod and construction materials from neighbouring states and district headquarters, the release added.
