ITANAGAR, Nov 23: A peaceful protest was held today here in capital by the aggrieved qualified aspirants of IRBN & GD Constable Recruitment (Male & Female) Exam conducted by APSSB, demanding steps to be taken by the concerned authority to fill up the remaining 426 vacancies on a priority basis.
The rally started from Akashdeep Ganga and culminated at Indira Gandi Park in which hundreds of aggrieved aspirants participated. Earlier, Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APPSSB) conducted the Recruitment of GD Constables Exam in February 2019.
Talking to reporters, one of the leaders of the protestors, Pura Tajang who appeared in the written examination and in vivo voice too said that he had come to know from sources that at least 426 vacant posts are yet to be filed against the already notified strength. “When the state is facing a shortage of police personnel, why the police department is so reluctant to absorb qualified candidates ? The genuinely qualified candidates have been frustrated and agonized for being deprived of the opportunity of jobs,” he lamented. He further sought to know the reason for not including such a huge number of vacant posts in the recruitment process and the time frame within which the department is going to fill the remaining posts.
Another leader, Mibom Perme noted the department's statement that the rest of the posts would be included in the next recruitment process, stating that if the next recruitment is even conducted on 2022 it will take 2025 for the department to complete the entire process.
Looking at the way the previous recruitment was conducted, Param said that many candidates would exceed their age limit to sit in the next exam and urged the concerned authorities to sympathetically look into the demands. It is pertinent to mention that the advertisement for the above job recruitment was published in 2017 and the entire process was completed in 2019.The aspirants said that they also submitted a representation to the Home Minister drawing his attention towards their demands but their plea has remained unheard so far.
