NAMSAI, Oct 23: Tayeng Welfare Society (Women Wing) in collaboration with the Namsai District Administration and Women Against Social Evil (WASE) organized an awareness program on ‘Drug Abuse & Domestic Violence' in Giidi Notko, Jaipur, Namsai  on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, General Secretary TWS(WW),  Oter Ering Tayeng informed that this campaign is the second event in the district.  "There is medicine for pandemic and epidemic but no such cure for drug abuse, it affects the whole society and future generation. So being a clan-based organization it’s our duty to create awareness on its ill effects," she added.
She also appealed to all the members of TWS to stand strong against drug abuse, to eradicate its menace from society.
Addressing the gathering, President WASE Yamik Dulom Darang appealed  the mothers to come forward for society. "Mothers play a major role in society; however, it’s the responsibility of both parents to come forward to save the future generation. We have lost our sons, daughters, brothers and sisters due to drugs, so it’s high time to take strong measures," she said.
She also urged the district administration to check illegal sale of beverages and other contraband substances in small shops around the village jurisdictions.
Meanwhile, Circle Officer Namsai,  Indira Thamoung Riba appreciated the CBOs and assured of all possible help to eradicate drug menace from society.
