ITANAGAR, Jul 3:  The Ranganadi Hydro Electric Project (RHEP) MoU Demand Committee on Monday decided not to resort to road blockade as declared earlier as part of its 3rd phase of its agitation against the NEEPCO authorities and state government over RHEP issue on July 5 next.

The decision to this effect came in the wake of Golden Jubilee Celebration of Dree festival of Apatani community across the state.

The Committee, in a statement, informed that it has withdrawn road blockade from Yazali to Hoj keeping in view the “Glorious Golden Jubilee Celebration of Dree festival across the state particularly in Ziro valley.  

However, it informed that the 3rd phase 36 hours bandh call will be enforced at NEEPCO establishments located in Yazali and Hoj.

The Committee has been demanding the NEEPCO authorities and state government for immediate drafting of a ‘fresh’ Memorandum of Understanding, proper review of relief and rehabilitation work, filling up of existing vacancies in RHEP from eligible candidates from project affected area, job regularization of recently W/C upgraded APST employees, 1% free power for local area development, establishment of NEEPCO ED office at Itanagar, strict implementation of CSR-CD (corporate social responsibility and community development) schemes on need basis, etc.

As part of its phase wise agitation, the Committee already closed down the NEEPCO establishments located at Yazali and Hoj for 24 hours on June 19 last besides staging mass dharna.
