ITANAGAR, Jul 30: In the wake of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union's announcement of a 24-hour bandh call on August 3 next, if the state government fails to take immediate action regarding Resident Proof Certificate issued to members of Chakma-Hajong, a high-level meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of Commissioner (Political), Kaling Tayeng( IAS) at Chief Secretary's conference hall on Friday.
As per the documents available in public domain, the members in the meeting has  decided to constitute a committee to carry out an inquiry into the allegation of issue of RPC to Chakma - Hajong individuals in Changlang district.
It was also decided to include two representatives of AAPSU as members of the committee. The committee shall submit a preliminary report within 15 days and a detailed final report on the entire gamut of the issue to be submitted within 45 days.
Further, the documents signed by Joint Secretary-Political, Rajeev Takuk also states that the house decided that all Residential Proof Certificates issued in Changlang district will be suspended with immediate effect. In case it is established before the committee during the inquiry that the Residential Proof Certificates have been erroneously issued, the same will be cancelled.
