ITANAGAR, May 17: Deputy Commissioner Capital Complex on May 16 last constituted a 12-member committee to carry out an inspection in all private schools of the Capital Complex area who are allegedly flouting basic norms such as running without proper NOC and Registration.
The committee will be headed by CO, Laxmi Dodum as its chairperson, SDPO Itanagar & Naharlagun, Officer In-charge Fire Station, Itanagar /Naharlagun and other officials from different departments as its members. DC has also directed the committee to conduct verification in all the private schools of the twin capitals as per the Right to Education (RTE) Act and submit its report within May 31 next.
It can be recalled that in the wake of mushrooming of private institutions and schools who are violating the above norms, Capital Complex SP placed a request with the Deputy Commissioner to constitute a committee to carry out necessary inspection in this regard. Citing example of the recent closing down of a private institution at Lekhi, Naharlagun where a student lost his life due to the negligence of safety and security measures, SP stated that there are many reports as well as complaints from various corners regarding such irregularities.
“The constituted committee should verify all the necessary documents, infrastructures, safety & security measures as well as the facilities like drinking water, sanitation, playground and fire & safety measures,” SP highlighted in its letter.
