ITANAGAR, Jun 30: The Jamin-Kra Daadi District Headquarters Restoration Committee (JKDDHRC) has sought a reconsideration of the state government's decision to shift the district headquarters from Jamin to Palin.
Speaking to reporters, JKDDHRC General Secretary Tarh Johny termed the move as  “wrongful decision.” “The decision is totally a political one to curtail the ongoing developmental activities of one of the fastest growing district headquarters in the state since it was taken without any meeting and exchange of public opinion," he said. Reiterating the appeal for a rollback of the decision, the JKDDHRC GS recalled that the people of Jamin donated their ancestral lands for development purposes when the place was chosen as the headquarters of Kra Daadi district. For eight years the district has been functioning and since then there have been many infrastructural developments with an investment of more than one hundred and fifty crore by the government,  Johny informed, while questioning the outcome of the massive investment. He further recalled that it was after proper ground survey and verification, Jamin was approved as the district headquarter by the government.
The government has cited poor road connectivity and lack of availability of natural resources as reasons for shifting which carry no weight, Jamin said, asserting that water and land are adequate enough and natural resources have been utilised to the maximum along with the existence of three roads connecting the headquarters to various places in the district.
