ITANAGAR, April 6 : In a bid to promote trust and understanding relationships between law enforcement and members of the community, a “Nagrik Bachao Committee” was constituted today with its first meeting held today to discuss how to unite police and diverse communities for a mutual cause—transparency and understanding.

Charing the meeting, Superintendent of Police, Dr. A Koan said that the meeting aims to bring together individuals from all perspectives and backgrounds for exchanging information and ideas to curb the increasing social crimes.

“It was felt necessary to form such committee to maintain coordination and unity between the police and to create better understanding to check growing crimes including rash driving, drunken driving, traffic related issue, gambling, child labour, drug addiction, human trafficking, social issues and others, added Koan.

Informing that this year the city police have successfully collected revenue in the form of fines charged upon the traffic violators amounting to  forty lakhs, Koan while congratulating the law enforcers has also expressed concern over the need to spread  awareness among the denizens regarding obligatory rules of traffics ,precautionary measures etc particularly among the youth  to thwart accidents.

SP further also appealed one and all to obey traffic rules and maintain brotherhood among all so that the capital would be a better place to live in.

Further the committee unanimously decided to conduct 2 days long traffic awareness programme discuss the traffic problem with general public on April 29 and 30 next.

DNGC Principal Kumar Tok, SDPO Itanagar Hanyir Techi, SDPO Naharlagun Make Bui, Reserve Inspector C Longri,  Councillor Tatung Tania, Techi Mema were present in the meeting.
