ITANAGAR, Apr 21: All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has condemned  reputed media houses like NDTV and others as well as the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) for projecting Arunachal Pradesh in a wrong light by publishing misleading news regarding the killing of a King Cobra.
In a press release issued today, AAPSU stated that national media houses should not jump to any conclusion without verifying facts and vilify a whole tribe. The union’s General Secretary Tobom Dai stated that the cobra episode involving some villagers which is trending in national media is purely a stray incident and the news had been telecasted without proper fact checking and it has been wrongly linked with the Covid-19 pandemic. The village committee of Pachin said they have categorically specified that unfortunate killing of the cobra happened because it intruded into one of the village house and the person claiming to have killed it in the video had in fact taken it from jungle where it was thrown away, the release said, adding that the people involved in the episode are ignorant village folks knowing nothing about Wildlife Act.
AAPSU has cautioned to be mindful while using social media and clarified that snake is not a diet of the state’s people. AAPSU PR
