ZIRO, Mar 31: Deputy Commissioner, Lower Subansiri Somcha Lowang launched the Chief Ministers White Revolution Scheme in Lower Subansiri district by inaugurating the dairy farm and handing over 15 dairy cows to Kago Shangkhang, a beneficiary of the scheme at Dilopolyang in a program organised by the District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Ziro today.
Addressing the gathering, Lowang encouraged the youths to grab the entrepreneurial opportunities the present government provides. She also advised the beneficiaries of the CMs White Revolution Scheme to ensure success of the flagship program.
“The beneficiaries have to take utmost care of the cows for the first few weeks to let them acclimatise with the cold weather of Ziro. Personal interventions and regular inspections and checkups by the veterinary officials will have to be scheduled to ensure the milch cows are in their best health,” she added while stating her interest in interacting with the beneficiaries directly.
Lowang also called for developing an inter-sectoral department work culture.
“The activities of all the departments are interlinked. Therefore all the departments should work in tandem for the success of a scheme,” she added.
DVO Hano Tama dwelt at length about the objectives of the scheme. Besides a livelihood program, the scheme also aims to expand, enhance and introduce scientific rearing of dairy animals and thereby improving the economic status of the dairy farmers.
Under this flagship program five progressive and modern entrepreneurs of the district are being provided with a special assistance of Rs.10.80 lakhs as Government share and Rs. 2.70 as beneficiaries share for the construction of dairy cow shed for accommodating 15 cows with provision to accommodate 10 more dairy cattle, DVO informed.
Hibu Yache, ZPM of 17- Akhangmiyo constituency, Siiro also encouraged the local youths to avail the facilities provided by the government and initiate self sustainable initiatives.
