ITANAGAR, Jul 22: The Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Yojana (CMAAY) has received a shot in the arm with empanelment of the prestigious Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore.
As per the notification issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, GoAP dated June 30, 2020, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed in this regard between the state government and CMC Vellore. The conditions for association of CMAAY with CMC Vellore is a deviation from the standard package-based hospitalization under CMAAY as well as in Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). Under this agreement, CMC Vellore will extend its medical/surgical facilities on credit basis for inpatient treatment including diagnostic tests, investigations, prescription, dispensation of medicines etc., to the beneficiaries of CMAAY as per prevailing tariff with a cap of Rs. 5 lakhs per annum per family. All CMAAY beneficiaries who are bona fide scheduled tribes of Arunachal Pradesh and state government employees can avail this benefit. Programme management unit of CMAAY will refer the patient on recommendation of the District CMAAY Referral Board headed by the District Medical Officer/Medical Superintendent of district hospitals and the referral letter has to be presented to CMC authority for availing credit services.
As on July 13, 2020, there are 92977 families (405447 individuals) who have enrolled under CMAAY and there are 22 empanelled hospitals outside the state including the reputed ones like Dr.B. Borooah Cancer Institute, Excelcare and Health City hospitals in Guwahati, Narayana Hrudalaya in Bengaluru, Artemis & Parks hospitals in Delhi etc. Within the state, TRIHMS and Bakin Pertin General Hospital have contributed majorly in extending the services under CMAAY and despite shortage of manpower in many specialties, capital’s Ramakrishna Mission Hospital has been extending its services in limited specialties.
Till date, 5220 cases have been reported to hospitals for availing benefits under CMAAY since its launch in August 2018 and approximately, Rs. 10.6 crores have been spent so far and sufficient funds have been released by the state government on a timely basis for its smooth operation. Continued efforts are being made to empanel more reputed and popular hospitals like NEIGRIHMS Shillong, GNRC Guwahati and Apollo Group of hospitals etc.
Taking into account the experience of 2 years since inception, CMAAY would be further reviewed and made easier for government hospitals with patient-centric policies. Private hospitals would be encouraged to extend more services by early settlement of claims, which are exclusively done using the Public Financial Management System (PFMS).
Lauding the scheme’s success, Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Health Minister Alo Libang have directed the concerned officials to ensure that services are extended to all needy in a hassle-free manner. CMAAY PR
