ITANAGAR, Jul 27:       Chief Minister Pema Khandu has expressed deep concern over the rise of drowning cases in the state.Expressing sadness over the drowning of three JNV class IX students in Siang river on Wednesday, Khandu has asked all the adjoining district administrations to gear up for search operations. He also requested the villagers to help the administration and police to track and locate the missing students. NDRF team has also been pressed into service.  CM is personally monitoring the entire exercise.

He also expressed profound sorrow over the loss of two lives due to drowning in Papum and Pare river recently. While conveying his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members, the CM has sought for a detail report on the incidences from the concern district administration so that the government could expedite for release of ex-gratia to the next of kin.

While appealing the citizens to remain cautious during the monsoon which has already claimed many precious lives, Khandu directed the district administration to issue necessary instructions to schools, village heads and common people to avoid going to river banks or nallahs to avert recurrence of such unfortunate incidences. He further asked for keeping strict vigil along the river belt areas.
