ZIRO, Jan 31: The Lt. Bullo Ato Lampung Uru (clan) of Hong Village dedicated a new school gate to the Government Secondary School Hong on the occasion of its 20th Foundation Day today.
The dilapidated gate structure constructed in 2003 was on the verge of collapse and posed a serious threat to commuters and students passing through. Constructed at a cost of Rs.16 lakhs, the expenses have been donated entirely by the members of the clan.
Hibu Dole (Retd) IFS, who is the President of All Hong Development Committee, while inaugurating the structure exhorted all to emulate such social work.
“If every society, organization, and clan in our district adopts such social-oriented works during their conferences and foundation day celebrations, Ziro would witness tangible development without any government interventions. It would be a payback to society,” he added.
CO cum Chairperson, School Management Committee, Government Secondary School, Hong, Anima Nabum while highlighting the role and responsibilities of the SMC, said that besides preparing and recommending school development plans, the SMC has a vital role of monitoring the working of a school.
“ The SMCs will be responsible for ensuring that all the government schemes like the midday meal, free uniforms, Vidya scheme etc are implemented well in the schools. “ she added.
