ROING, Mar 28: With a view to sensitize masses about various sections of Right to Information Act 2005, the Arunachal Information Commission in collaboration with District Administration Lower Dibang Valley organized a day long programme at Anchal Samiti Hall here today.

Addressing the gathering, RTI, Commissioner, Dr. Jaram Begi enlightened on various provisions under RTI Act 2005 and exhorted the participants for proper use of the RTI Act in bringing transparency and accountability in the instruments of governance.

 Emphasizing that the Act has empowered the citizens to know their rights and responsibilities in all developmental process, Begi said information dissemination is crucial for making the most of the Act. 

Endorsing that RTI Act should be implemented in letter and spirit to contain corruption at various levels, Begi also informed that central government is focusing on rapid social, economic and infrastructure development of the region and urged the public to be vigil on working and process of development. 

Responding to the public plea on some PDS related issues during interactive session, Begi also assured to take up the matter with the concern authority and place report on outcome of the awareness programs. 

Deputy Commissioner, Lower Dibang Valley, Deepak Shinde, in his welcome address stressed on significant components of RTI Act 2005 and NFSA Act 2013 and said that both are imperative in bringing transparency and development of welfare state. He also called for sensitization of the various provisions under both Act up to the grass root level. 

AK Techi, SIC elaborated the procedure of filling RTI, time limit for supply of information, cost of information, ground for rejection under sec.8 of the Act while Matem Linggi, SIC informed on role and responsibilities of PIO/ APIO and N Jamoh spoke on NFSA Act. 2013 along with a power point presentation by CO, (Supply), Rakesh Tacho about the status report NFSA Act of the district.

The program was attended by HoDs, PRI Leaders, Gaoh Buras, Public, NGOs and other officials.
