ITANAGAR, Sep 8: A day after China reiterated its claims over Arunachal as South Tibet, Home Minister Bamang Felix, LS MP Arunachal East Tapir Gao and Rajya Sabha MP Nabam Rebia have condemned China, terming it as “mere imagination.”
Reacting to the Chinese statement, Felix categorically said that such a claim by China is the pigmentation of imagination which has no weight. “It is very sad that China is repeatedly issuing such statements, whereas Arunachal is an integral part of India and it will remain so,” he stated. When asked about the borders roads, the Home Minister said the BRO is taking care of them near border areas and the status of the proposed Frontier Highway is under the purview of the Central government.
Condemning China’s claim of Arunachal as South Tibet, Gao said it is totally false as the state was never been a part of South Tibet. “In 1914 when the McMahon line was drawn, Tibet was not under China nor was Arunachal a part of Tibet. Then on what ground China is making such claims? China has illegally occupied Tibet and is now claiming Arunachal as South Tibet which is condemnable,” Gao reacted.
Rebia while condemning the statement of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson said: “Arunachal was never a part of China and the statement is totally imaginary, unfortunate and myopic.” “China is taking provocative steps which are wrong. But India is a strong nation now and if there are any issues they should be brought on table for a peaceful settlement,” he added.
