Itanagar, Jan 31: The 'Special Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan' organized by capital’s Childline, Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC) which marked the grand finale of a series of events such as drama, essay writing and drawing competitions to create cleanliness and environmental awareness among children and youths was held today.
SP, Capital Complex Tumme Amo while stressing on the need to make the earth plastic-free and keep rivers, forests and nature clean, exhorted all to keep away from drugs, obey traffic rules and remain health conscious.
Earlier, introducing the event, Director of DBYC and Childline, Fr. Cyriac spoke on the importance of the day. “Today we are concluding a series of Swachh Bharat initiatives by Childline and the Feast of Don Bosco, Father and Friend of Youth,” he said, reiterating the need for cleanliness and opined that even Coronavirus infection can be avoided if one follows stringent norms of cleanliness and hygiene. He congratulated Childline India Foundation for coming up with the special initiative to strengthen the Swachh Bharat motto and while welcoming the new CWC Chairperson Likha Asha, thanked the out-going Chairperson Kani Nada Maling for her assistance to Childline, DBYC, Itanagar.
Secretary, APWWS Kani Nada Maling spoke about the need to go green and collaborate with the Clean India Mission launched at the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. CWC Chairperson Likha Asha spoke about the need for following road safety rules for children and developing the habit of proper garbage disposal. Principal, Vivekananda Residential Public School representing the teachers spoke on the need for continuous education of children on hygiene and health. Prizes were given away to the winners and students presented dances and songs along with a drama highlighting the theme “Swachhta Hi Seva”. Childline PR
