Itanagar, Jun 10:  A meeting of the Childline Advisory Board(CAB) was held today in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner Capital Itanagar Talo Potom  for effective monitoring and proper implementation of functioning and activities of Childline and to suggest measures to enhance the services rendered.
During the meeting, various issues pertaining to the functioning of the Childline, Child Welfare Committee etc were discussed by the members of the CAB.
The DC  assured that all support would be provided by the District Administration and urged the stakeholders to work together as a team. He said that thrust should be given on awareness as people  still are unaware about the services of Childline. 
To improve the visibility of Childline, SP Capital Jimmy Chiram extended his cooperation and support to the team of Childline in generating awareness. 
He also explained in details about the process of rescue through Childline and expressed his cooperation in such cases.
Coordinator Childline, Elizabeth N Tangjang  briefed about Childline services and its activities and informed that Childline Itanagar has attended a total of 117 cases since September 2021 till date in various categories such as medical assistance, rescue and restoration, core and protection, emotional support and guidance, POCSO, child marriage etc. She informed that the Childline Itanagar attends to calls referred by Childline contact centre, produces child before the Child Welfare Committee and the rescued children are then placed at shelter homes. Childline Itanagar then starts tracing the parents and follow up on cases is done from time to time. It also organises outreach programmes, awareness generation programmes etc, informed the Coordinator.
During the meeting, various issues pertaining to the functioning of the Childline, Child Welfare Committee etc were discussed by the members of the CAB.
Other issues and challenges faced by  Childline Itanagar was also discussed in detail to which DC assured his cooperation.
J Tangjang Superintendent, Children Home,  Oju Welfare Association also briefed about the status of the rescued children who have been provided shelter at Oju.
CHILDLINE is India’s first 24 hour, free emergency phone and outreach service for children in need of care and protection and that any child or concerned adult can dial 1098 to avail of its emergency assistance. Childline reaches out to children from 0-18years of age and in extreme condition to young adults upto 25 years. The Childline works for protection of children and if any call is being made to Childline for help, the team tries to reach to the child and provide rehabilitation and constant follow up. In Itanagar Don Bosco Youth Centre is working as a collaborative organization for Childline. 
Among others, EAC Tamo Dada, DMO Dr Mandip Perme, Director Childline Sunny Minz and other representatives of Childline Itanagar and BSNL attended the meeting.
