Itanagar, Nov 19: A team of Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) while inspecting the offices of Child Welfare Committee (cwc), ICR and Juvenile Justice Board, Yupia on Tuesday last had observed a number of shortcomings in terms of infrastructure and functioning.
During inspection the team headed by its Chairperson Gumri Ringu found that all services of Childline Itanagar are currently suspended due to which CWC, ICR is facing challenges in rescuing children in need of care and protection. The urgent need of having separate rescue vehicles for ICR and Papum Pare district was also noted. The team of CWC, ICC informed the visiting APSCPCR team that the child missing portal is yet to be activated. Later, the team inspected the office of the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), Yupia and found an immediate need of its renovation and making it more children friendly as per JJ Act 2015. The team also called a coordination meeting with DC Papum Pare, Pige Ligu, Deputy Director ICDS, members of Juvenile Justice Board, Capital Complex and District Child Protection Unit at DC office Yupia.
During the meeting, the DC while informing that the under-construction Juvenile Home will be completed by next year, gave the assurance to renovate the JJB office.
