Itanagar, Oct 9: A team of the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR), visited the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Tani Happa, Sagalee on October 8. The visit was undertaken as part of an inquiry visit to assess the functioning and welfare of the students of the school. The team comprising of Members Niri Chongrowju, Honluk Lukham, and Member Secretary Yakar Dawe was accompanied by Higio Yame, ADC Sagalee and other district officials.
During the visit, the team interacted with the students, teachers, and School Management Committee
(SMC) members to understand the academic, infrastructural, and welfare conditions in the institution.
The interaction aimed to ensure that the rights and safety of children in residential schools are being effectively safeguarded and to identify areas requiring intervention or support. The team also inspected the school kitchen,  classrooms, hostel, and the overall school premises, and observed that the school lacks a boundary wall, posing a potential safety and security risk for the students.
Thereafter, the team visited the Community Health Centre (CHC), Sagalee and interacted with the
Medical Officer In-charge, Dr. Tokar Nyodu to ascertain the status of the defunct Primary Health Centre (PHC) located near the KGBV campus, which was reportedly not notified by the Government and therefore, has remained non-functional for an extended period.
