PASIGHAT, Sep 20: Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) Chairperson Gumri Ringu along with her team members comprising Peace Moyong, Ngurang Achung and Jumtum Minga on Tuesday visited East Siang district to review the implementation of Poshan Maah and child rights related issues in the district with stakeholders.
The team in the evening held a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu, Superintendent of Police Sumit Kumar Jha and officers. Ringu exhorted all the stakeholder departments, NGOs and CBOs to extend support to the Commission to ensure the care and protection of children. She also spoke about the powers, functions and responsibilities of the commission at the state level and child welfare committees (CWC) and Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) at the district level and appreciated the work being done by the DCPUs, CWCs and SJPU in the district for the care and protection of children. She also stated that any kind of child abuse related concern be reported to the nearest police station and inform the same to the concerned officials.
The DC and SP assured to extend support and cooperation from the District Administration and asked the visiting team to organize more interactive sessions on various Acts and rules to sensitize the people about child rights.
During the day, the team also visited Anganwadi Centers at  Sille and Rani villages, PHCs at Sille and Rani and IGJ Hr. Sec. School at Pasighat. The team will visit Mebo on the way to Lower Dibang Valley on Wednesday.
