AALO, May 21: Within four days of receipt of complaint, District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Aalo has rescued two children and handed them over to their families.
Acting on a complaint received on May 16 through Child Helpline, a detailed inquiry was conducted by Legal-cum-Probation Officer, West Siang under Child Welfare Committee, DCPU Mijum Doke which led to the rescue of the children. They were handed over to their family members in presence of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) on May 20. Citing the case, the Legal-cum-Probation Officer requested all citizens of the district not to break law as child labour in any form and child trafficking are strictly prohibited under Indian Constitution and child labour laws.
He also requested the prospective parents wishing to adopt to go through proper legal process. Merely keeping a child without proper process is invalid as per the relevant law, he added. DIPRO
