Itanagar, Feb 2: In order to discuss various issues pertaining to the association of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Secretary  Naresh Kumar along with senior officials had a meeting with the Chairman of NABARD Dr. G.R. Chintala at Civil Secretariat, today.
At the outset, the Chief Secretary lauded the significant support the NABARD has lent to the Government of Arunachal Pradesh which has a huge impact on the overall development of the State vis-a-vis infrastructure, agriculture, horticulture and other allied sectors.
Talking of their contribution to the overall development of the state, Kumar stated that the NABARD has actually been working as an instrument of cooperative federalism in the state as per the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who firmly advocates for cooperative federalism since 2014.
Expressing optimism that the relation between the two continues to strengthen, the Chief Secretary further hoped that NABARD will play an important role in realizing the Act East Policy of the Government of India and tap the potential of the North Eastern States and Arunachal Pradesh in particular through their various expertise ventures. As per the latest report (2020-2021), the Ground Level Credit flow to Priority Sector was Rs. 439.34 Crore as against the Annual Credit Plan of Rs. 705.50 Cr. The Borrowing power of the State Government from the NABARD has increased to Rs. 251.17 crore since 2018-19 which has been enhanced to Rs. 400.00 Crore in 2021-22.

Agriculture Development Commissioner  Rajeev Verma, Commissioner (PWD)  Kaling Tayeng, Commissioner (Planning) P.S. Lokhande, Commissioner to CM Sonam Chombey, General Manager NABARD Partho Saha and other stakeholders were present in the meeting.
