PASIGHAT, Jan 16: A one-day training programme on ‘Sustainable and Quality Production Technology of Santra (Khasi Mandarin)’ was conducted today at Dambuk village in Lower Dibang Valley district by the Department of Fruit Science, College of Horticulture and Forestry, CAU Pasighat.
Sponsored by ICAR under Project AICRP the training comprised practical demonstration on pruning, fertilizer application and spraying for pest and disease control in orchards. Dean, CHF Pasighat Dr. B.N. Hazarika highlighted the importance of integrated nutrient and pest management practices for Khasi mandarin orchards. Principal Investigator of the project and HoD, Fruit Science Dr. L. Wangchu highlighted the importance of management practices and technologies in maintaining a healthy orchard. The day-long training covered the entire gamut of production technology starting from layout, planting, training, pruning, canopy management, orchard floor management etc.
An interactive session cleared various doubts of the farmers regarding cultivation of Khasi Mandarin.
