AALO, Feb 24: Chairman, Arunachal Pradesh State Electricity Regulatory Commission, RP Singh has stated transmission losses, power theft and improper metering as the major challenging issues facing all districts at present.

He said this during an interactive meeting with HoDs and Engineers of Power and Hydro Power Department on Thursday during his one day visit to West Siang. Singh further appealed the district administration, police and power department to check the growing problems of power theft.

‘Power department in the state is growing very fast as one of the basic industry and its services have reached almost all corners of the state. As a hydro power house of the country, it is our duty to give all needful power supplies to the consumers,’ he said.

He further disclosed that the state will very soon get free power and the department has to carefully distribute these services down to all levels.

The Secretary APSERC, Rakesh Kumar Sharma dwelt at length on issues like power regulations, distribution, transmission, generation, consumption, rights and duties of the power consumers. He laid emphasis on electricity supply code, standard performance regulation and consumer redressal forum in detail. He also insisted on creating much needed awareness on service connection, consumer entitlement to get compensation, metering, consumer redressal etc.

Participating in the discussion, Deputy Commissioner West Siang, Gamli Padu assured to look into power theft cases and appreciated the commission for highlighting the role and responsibilities of the commission as common people are not at all aware of it. The Chairman had detailed interactive sessions with the officers of Power and Hydropower department in the technical session that followed. DIPRO
