Changlang, Feb 10: The All Changlang District Students' Union (ACDSU) today condemned the statement by the Chakma Development Foundation of India (CDFI) demanding the transfer of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Miao, Sunny K Singh's transfer alleging him of persecution of the Chakma community.
On February 8, hundreds of Chakma refugees gheraoed and obstructed the Changlang district administration and police team led by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Miao, Sunny K Singh while on duty to demarcate the boundary between Neoton village and Chakma settled Dharmapur village under Miao subdivision. The district administration had received a complaint against illegal stone mining activities nearby the village boundary which was altering the natural course of the river flow.
Coming out in the IAS officer's defense, Vice President ACDSU, Samshum Changmi said that Singh's commitment towards the people is unquestionable and he has been toiling hard to deliver administrative services to all without any prejudice to any particular community.
"Certain section of people demanding the transfer of an IAS officer for discharging his assigned duties is illogical and provocative in nature. Particularly, when an organization like CDFI that operates mainly in New Delhi region and whose activities primarily evolves outside the state of Arunachal Pradesh. Moreover, they should feel ashamed to even speak about the matters of the district," Changmi said.
Demarcation of district's boundaries or even eviction of illegal occupants from reserved/government land is none of their business as they are not the rightful owners to speak on behalf of Changlang district. Because every individual of Arunachal Pradesh knows that none of them (members of CDFI) belongs to this land rather they are outsiders. It is, therefore none of their business to interfere in the matter of Changlang district in particular and state as a whole, the ACDSU said.
The Union also claimed that CDFI is trying to misguide the government and its machineries, especially the Human Rights Commission for their vested interests. Even the Chakma people of Diyun, who have stayed here for decades, have learnt what Suhas Chakma and his organisation is up to. They (CDFI) have betrayed the Chakma/Hajong people of Diyun on multiple occasions. Therefore, we appeal to the Chakma and Hajong people of Diyun, Mpen, Miao areas to reject CDFI and not fall prey once again by believing their fake sympathetic nature.
In a separate press statement, All Mishmi Students Union (AMSU) also vociferously extended solidarity with All Changlang District Students Union and condemned the unconstitutional and illogical demands made by the Chakma Development Foundation of India seeking transfer of the Additional Deputy Commissioner,. Miao.
AMSU urged the Chakma community not to spread such fake news and not to encroach indigenous tribal land and remain in the designated camps for the sake of peace and tranquility in the state.
