ITANAGAR, Nov 24: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have extended their warm greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of ‘Chalo Loku’, the socio-religious festival of the Nocte people of Tirap district.
In his message, Governor said that the rich cultural heritages of the state are preserved through observance of festivals and beating of ‘Tham’ of Chalo Loku will bind each and every member of the community together. On this joyous occasion, I join my Nocte brethren in offering prayer to the Almighty Rang for socio-cultural and socio-economic well-being of all, his message read.
Chief Minister while conveying his greetings said that “Chalo Loku is as colourful as the Noctes, who have been blessed by Mother Nature with her bounty. While thanking the Almighty for a bountiful harvest this season, I join my Nocte brethren in offering prayers for a better season next year.”
He appreciated the Noctes for celebrating Loku every year with traditional fervour not only in their villages but also at places across the state and country wherever they have a sizeable presence, adding that the celebration would prove as a major catalyst towards achieving the goal of unity in diversity.
