ITANAGAR, Feb 18: In view of the first-ever regional meet to discuss the issue of empowerment of Persons with Disabilities titled ‘Divya Kala Shakti: Witnessing the Abilities in Disabilities’ scheduled to be held in the state capital on March 4 next, a meeting to review its preparedness was convened today here at the CS Conference Hall of the Civil Secretariat attended by the high-ranking officials of both Central and state governments.
Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Union Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment Shakuntala D. Gamlin, Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, Commissioner to Governor Sagar Preet Hooda, Commissioner to Chief Minister Sonam Chombay, Secretary, SJETA Niharika Rai, GM, Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), MoSJE Lt. Col. (Retd) P.K. Dube and other officials attended the meeting. The Chief Secretary assured full cooperation from the state government for successful conduct of the event.
‘Divya Kala Shakti’, which is a cultural event for providing a wider and unique platform to showcase the potential of Persons with Disabilities in the fields of performing art, music, dance, acrobatics etc. will be organized in the state capital by Swami Vivekananda National Institute for Research, Training and Rehabilitation (Divyangjan), Cuttack in collaboration with  Department of Social Justice & Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, GoAP. Along with the participants from all the eight Northeast states including Arunachal Pradesh, those from Indore (Madhya Pradesh), Delhi, Odisha and other states are also expected to join. Besides the March 4 event, ‘Samajik Adhikarita Shivir’ will be organized by ALIMCO on the following day where the Divyangjans and senior citizens will be facilitated under ADIP Scheme with assistive aids and devices. Both the events will be held at the Dorjee Khandu State Convention Centre to be graced by Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.), Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment Thaawar Chand Gehlot and Chief Minister Pema Khandu. It can be recalled that DEPwD had organized similar events in April and July 2019 in the national capital.
Meanwhile, the ongoing progress report of Divya Kala Shakti, Itanagar was presented by Officer In-charge CRCSRE, Guwahati Lanu W. Aimol in the meeting. PRO CS
