ITANAGAR, Nov 27: In the recently concluded, 79th IRC Annual Session, Toli Basar, Chief Engineer, Highway Zone, PWD has been elected as President of Indian Roads Congress, which was held from November 22-25 at Nagpur. Maharastra. He was holding Vice President post of Indian Roads Congress till recently. Basar is a recipient of several national awards and State Gold medalist in the year 2011-12 in the field of Engineering.
Indian Roads Congress (IRC) is the premier technical body of Highway Engineers in the country. The IRC was set up in December 1934 by the Government of India with the objective of Road Development in the country. It is registered as a Society under Societies Registration Act 1860. It is an organization devoted to the cause of better roads and better bridges in the country.
Indian Roads Congress provides a National forum for sharing of knowledge and pooling of experience on the entire range of subjects dealing with the construction and maintenance of roads and bridges which includes technology, equipment and research, planning as well as all connected policy issues.
The Annual Session of IRC is an event of National importance. It attracts participation from National and International Technical Experts and Administrators working for Central and State Governments and Public Undertakings in addition to senior representatives from private enterprises engaged in the roads & Bridges and also in other infrastructure.
