ITANAGAR, Aug 5: As many as 122 students out of 216 from Government Higher Secondary School, Namsai have been placed under compartment in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class X exam results declared by the board on its website on Tuesday.
This has resulted in extreme resentment among these  students who visited the school and sought details of the assessment process. Speaking to the media, a student who has been placed in the compartment list expressed dismay how 122 students can be categorised in this bracket when no examinations were conducted, either offline or online. Claiming that they have submitted all the required assignments on time, the students blamed the school authority for the disproportionate assessment process.
When contacted, Vice Principal, GHSS Namsai Taluk Taji informed that the school authority has no role in preparing the results and the methodology followed has been according to the new assessment system for Class X students laid out by the CBSE. It is very unfortunate that  out of 216 students who were assessed, only 70 were declared passed, 122 placed under compartment and at least 12 declared failed for scoring below-minimum marks necessary to be promoted as per the new assessment rule,” the Vice Principal said.
He further informed that CBSE has prescribed a system of internal moderation by all schools based on their historical performances and taking the best performance in the last three years board examinations as the ‘Reference Year’ along with other systems of allotting marks.
The Vice Principal has appealed to the students to get themselves prepared for the Compartmental Examination instead of creating further confusion.
