ITANAGAR, Sep 21: In a joint press conference, Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRI) leaders of Shi-Yomi district have appealed to the state government to upgrade the existing BSNL network service as well as to bring other private telecommunication services in the district.
Addressing reporters at the Press Club, Badur Jibing, Assistant General Secretary, Tagin Cultural Society, Shi-Yomi District said that due to non-availability of internet, people of Shi-Yomi are cut off from the rest of the world in regards to modern technologies and information.  "Students are the worst sufferers because they cannot join online classes and even government works are halted or delayed due to the absence of internet. Internet is a distant dream but even SMS are not delivered due to poor network," he said.
He requested the state government to provide alternative network services from private telecom companies in the area.
"Mechukha is a renowned tourist hub of the state, yet it is still lagging in terms of network and internet facilities, which is a disadvantage for the tourist and people of the area", he said. Due to poor network service, people are unaware about any announcements by the state government, new schemes etc as all these have gone digital these days, Badur added. A joint memorandum has been submitted to Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on the same.
