BASAR, Jul 13:A team of “Lego Lemgo Welfare Society” led by President Tojo Bam called on Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju at his New Delhi residence on July 10 last.
In the hour long discussion, society requested the Minister to immediately expedite the establishment of Agriculture University/College as the earlier proposed Horticulture College at Basar was relocated to Pasighat during 2003-2004 for which a land measuring more than 700 hectares donated by the people of the area still remains unused. Society further discussed the activity taken up by GRK (Gumin Rego Kilaju) such as catchment area protection and creation of numerous artificial water tank in hill top measuring 1.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 for collection of rain water to recharge the water in to the soil, environment protection, introduction of organic cultivation system as well as riverine protection with community participation.
The Lego Lemgo Welfare Society also express willingness of the Bam villagers to provide land free of compensation for establishment of defence cum Civilian airport at Himi Pobdi, as it is located strategically for easy access to the people of West Siang, Upper Siang, Siang, Lower Siang and Upper Subansiri as it is located in the Bam tri- junction.
