ITANAGAR, Nov 27: A group of aspirants have expressed dissatisfaction over the ongoing investigation into the "Cash for Job scam" involving the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Special Investigation Cell (SIC), and has demanded for Enforcement Directorate as well as court monitored judicial probe.
The Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee –APPSC while speaking to reporters at the press club, questioned the functioning of the central probe agency including the state's SIC.
CBI has no updates about who has been arrested or questioned till date since they took over the case. Moreover, the SIC is headed by the state government, so aspirants don't have much faith in them. As of now, SIC has arrested brokers and a few family members of candidates who are involved in 'cash for job', whereas only one official Taket Jerang has been arrested so far from the APPSC, said a member of the Steering Committee.
The group is also demanding the immediate arrest of former Chairman APPSC Nipo Nabam and other members. Since 2017, Nipo Nabam was in the Commission and this year too he was in the system as Chairman, so the investigation agency must question him also by arresting him, they said.
The Committee has submitted a 13-point memorandum to the state's apex student body, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union and All Nyishi Students' Union serving an ultimatum till November 30. They are demanding the authorities to declare the past examinations conducted by the APPSC "Null & Void" if any malpractices are found. They are also seeking the immediate release of the three-member IAS committee report on the APPSC AE (Civil) paper leakage issue, new SOPs, and a reward for whistle-blowers.
The Steering Committee also urged authorities not to conduct any examination till their demands are fulfilled. If any examination is to be conducted due to any reason, then the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) must be endorsed for the same, demanded the PAJSC-APPSC.
