Kimin, Jul 24: With the aim of boosting the sagging morale of Class X & XII students of different schools of the area which has resulted due to low pass percentile in CBSE examinations this year, a ‘Career Counselling Cum Guidance Seminar’ was conducted here at the ITBP Recruit Training Centre Auditorium on July 23 by ‘Kimin Let's Change’, a local NGO.
RGU Joint Registrar, Dr. David Pertin who was the main resource person explained the world of opportunities to the students numbering around 300 through a Power Point Presentation. Emphasizing on area-specific careers such as rural health, teaching, tourism, foreign interpreters, law, music, fashion, journalism, film making, civil aviation, food technology, non-formal fields and opportunities in the Armed Forces, he motivated the students to identify their areas of interest and proceed accordingly. Medical Officer, CHC Kimin Dr. Minge Tana and Lecturer of New Life Bible College, Dobam Evangelist Tame Jamu were the other resource persons who dwelt on drug menace and moral values respectively.
In the sidelines of the seminar, ITBP men led the students in remembering the martyrs of the 1999 Kargil War as a part of the week-long observation of 20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas with Commandant (Training) RTC-ITBP giving a motivational lecture. DIG of RTC, ITBP, Kimin, Deputy Commandant (Training), ITBP officers & jawans, school teachers from GHSS, KV and Jeet-Aane School were also present in the day-long programme.
Kimin Let’s Change is a team of like-minded youths of Kimin who felt the need for a movement that would usher social awareness in the lives of the coming generations in particular and the denizens of the area in general. RGU PR
