ITANAGAR, Nov 13: Capital Police has solved the sensational murder mystery of late Techi Meena Lishi with the arrest of mastermind of the murder conspiracy, Roni Lishi, who is the husband of the deceased along with four other accomplices on Friday.
This was informed by Inspector General of Police, Chukhu Apa in a press briefing at Naharlagun Police Station late Friday night.
On November 5 last , a Toyota Innova car in which Techi Meena Lishi was travelling allegedly met with an accident at Block-Point,Karsingsa in which she succumbed to injuries.
Accordingly, a case was registered at Banderdewa PS C/No 22/20 U/S 279/304(A) IPC. However, after the inquest, police suspected foul play as the kind of injuries that the deceased received on her body did not match up to the nature of the accident.
Accordingly, the driver of the vehicle Dathang Suyang was detained for further interrogation.
"Initially Suyang did not cooperate with the investigation at all but after four days of sustained interrogation, he disclosed that Lishi Roni, husband of late Meena planned the murder of his wife who was 7 months pregnant at the time," Apa said.
Further investigation revealed that Lishi Roni has been planning to kill his wife and was in touch with his old acquaintances in Tirap district for last couple of months. At last, his old friend Kapwang Letey Lowang of Tirong village was contacted who arranged the contract killers.
Accordingly, the IGP said that in the evening of October 27, three persons arrived from Khonsa namely Dathang Suyang, Kapwang Letey Lowang and Taney Khoiyang and stayed at a city hotel where next day Lishi Roni finalized the plan to kill his wife with Kapwang. It was planned that Dathang Suyang would execute the murder and stage it as an accident for an amount of 10 lakhs. Five lakh was paid in advance by Roni, rest of the amount in two installments, the IGP said.
After making the deal, Kapwang and Taney left for Khonsa on October 30 while Dathang stayed back and was employed as a driver for Meena by Roni.
Again on November 2, Dathang requested Roni to arrange a partner as he felt he would be unable to carryout the murder by himself. Accordingly, Roni again consulted Kapwang who brought in Damriet Khoiyang from Pullung Village, Tirap district (based in Doimukh).
In the morning of November 4, Roni and Dathang made a dry run and fixed the spot somewhere in the block point, Karsingsa. The same evening Damriet and Dathang met and after discussion informed Roni that they were ready to execute the murder.
Next morning, Roni asked Meena to proceed to Karsingsa on the pretext of discussing their land compensation case of their property.
As planned on the way, Dathang picked up Damriet from Bage Tinali who sat in the back seat. As soon as they crossed the Mandir nearby the waste dumping zone, Karsingsa, Damriet assaulted Meena with a hammer and killed her.
After killing her, Damriet got down at the block point and Dathang drove the vehicle little farther and veered off the road to make it look like an accident.
"The case was successfully solved with support of Crime Branch Technical Team and all the police officers involved in the operations," Apa said.
Capital Police Team further arrested Suyang on November 5 and main accused Roni on November 10 in connection with the case after detailed investigation under section 302/120B/201 IPC.
Upon their disclosure, three other accused were also arrested-- Kapwang Letey Lowang, Taney Khoiyang and Damriet Khoiyang Friday morning by Tirap Police under the supervision of SP Tirap within 7 hours.
