ITANAGAR, May 31: The Capital Police on Friday arrested one M Kamduk, alias ‘Murgi Bacha’, a habitual cheater for allegedly trying to dupe a person to help his brother-in-law to clear the upcoming constable written examination by posing as the step-sister of SP Capital Tumme Amo.
The arrest was made by a police team led by SP Capital T Amo, OC PS Naharlagun, Inspector M Geyi, L/SI, M Yanya & others.
Earlier, one Nabam Vishu on Friday lodged a complaint alleging that an unknown caller on Thursday rang him and allegedly tried to extract  money from him on the pretext of providing a job to his brother-in-law  in the police department. In return for the favour, the caller asked him to meet her at Bosch Servicing Centre, Nirjuli and deposit Rs 50,000 as advance and Rs 2, 00,000  later as the remaining  amount.
Accordingly, the complainant with his wife and his brother-in-law met the woman at the manager's chamber of  the said service centre who introduced herself as the youngest stepsister of SP Capital, Tumme Amo. The victim was also told by the woman that she is also close to the SP's wife and has been engaged to collect the advance amount of Rs 50,000. The complainant Nabam Vishu became suspicious as he knew SP Tumme Amo to be an honest man. Subsequently, following the suggestion of DSO, Yupia, Nabam Kiron he lodged an FIR at PS Naharlagun.
Receiving the complaint, a police team was formed under supervision of  Capital SP   and the accused was apprehended the same day. According to police sources, Kamduk, 28, is the daughter of a retired Sub Inspector of  Police and was  involved in several cheating cases in the past too.
Meanwhile, SP Capital, Tumme Amo expressing shock over the development has appealed people not to fall prey to any scams involving promises of employment in the police department.
Stating that the police department believes in fair and transparent recruitment, Amo also clarified that as Staff Selection Board will be conducting every recruitment process, the question of manipulation does not arise.
