ITANAGAR, Dec 9: Following the reports of various incidents of theft and burglary in the ICR, Capital police today arrested four habitual LPG cylinder thieves and recovered 11 stolen cylinders from them.
Acting on the FIR lodged by a resident of JK Apartment near Little Flower School, Chimpu that on the night of November 19 at around 7:30 pm some unknown miscreants entered his rental room by breaking the door lock and stole one laptop and one LPG cylinder, capital police registered a case vide ITA/PS/Case No. 286/20 U/S 453/380/427/34 IPC.
ICR Superintendent of Police Jimmy Chiram in a press statement disclosed that during the course of investigation, CCTV footage of the said location revealed that two boys were entering into the rental room. After a thorough investigation and rounding up of several habitual criminals of the said location by a police team led by SDPO K. Sikom, OC Itanagar P. Simi and SI K. Tacha under supervision of the SP, four persons involved in the said crime were tracked down. The arrested persons were Gichik alias Paul Ramu from Chimpu-I, Lokar Tado from SLSA Chimpu, Likha Jaknik also from Chimpu and Deepak Deori alias Niga from WRD Colony.
The arrestees revealed they have stolen 11 LPG cylinders from various location such as Gohpur Tinali, Zoo road, RP Gate Chimpu, Jullang near District Jail, Chimpu-1 and SLSA Colony areas and sold them at prices ranging from Rs. 1800 to Rs 2500. All the stolen cylinders were recovered from various locations and later on the accused were forwarded to judicial custody.
The ICR SP has appealed to the dwellers of the Capital Complex to keep a sharp vigil on anti-social elements and requested them to properly verify before buying any goods sold at low prices. He further informed that all the recovered gas cylinders will be handed over to their genuine owners after proper verification.
