During investigation it was found that the vehicle has been registered in the name of one Parna Sarkar Saikia, which came to Itanagar on hire basis for election duty but was unfortunately robbed.
The I.O sent out WT messages to all OCs of the various police stations, IC check gates and to the neighbouring states. The team was deployed in civil dresses to keep a sharp surveillance in various locations regarding the movement of any suspected vehicle lifter round the clock.
SP further added that in the morning of 25 May at 8 am, an automatic message was received by the owner of the vehicle in his registered mobile number regarding vehicle servicing/repair from Mahindra Iconic dealer Lekhi Naharlagun and from that message it became clear that the robbed Scorpio vehicle has faced some mechanical problems. The police team instantly visited the dealer/ service center at Lekhi and inquired about the vehicle, but it was not there and the officials of the dealer could not tell anything concrete about the person who came and reported the mechanical problem of the said Scorpio vehicle. The police team in civil uniform then conducted physical checking of all the private garages and other places within Naharlagun area & one white Scorpio without number plate was noticed at A-Sector Naharlagun by the side of one private garage. From the garage owner it was learnt that one unknown person had kept the vehicle some days ago and promising to come back later to take it to the dealer.
On careful inspection, it was found to be the same Scorpio robbed on April 23 from Pappunala. Finally on May 27 at around 10 pm, the suspect later identified as Nima Tsering came there with one dumper vehicle to tow the Scorpio vehicle and was caught red-handed immediately leading to the recovery of the robbed Scorpio vehicle along with original RC.
