ITANAGAR, Dec 21: After conducting intensive investigation in relation to an FIR it received on November 21, Capital police  arrested a person impersonating as a fake IRBN on charges of committing burglary amounting to Rs 17 lakh.
The arrestee Tenzing Tsering and his accomplice T Pordung reportedly approached the complainant Smt Roshni as husband-wife with the intention of purchasing local beads costing Rs. 17 lakh in October last. As per the press statement issued by ICR SP Jimmy Chiram, a few days later both contacted her over telephone and told they want to come to her house to buy the beads. The seller however informed the duo of her inability to be present at her home due to some pre-engagement and asked them to come at a later date. According to the FIR, the fraudsters taking advantage of Roshni’s absence trespassed into her residence and stole the said beads. After committing the offence, the duo switched off their mobile phones and ran away. Accordingly, a case was registered vide ITA/PSD/Case No. 269/20 U/S 380/34 IPC.
On receipt of the FIR, the Capital SP constituted a team comprising SDPO Itanagar Kamdam Sikom and other police officials. Pordung in her statement before the investigation officer revealed she was Tsering’s girlfriend for many months who introduced himself as an IRBN working in the Police Department and currently attached as a PSO to an MLA. But reportedly after committing the crime, the prime accused Tsering disappeared from the capital with the stolen beads and made his existing mobile number switched off. A plan was chalked out where the girlfriend was used as a trap to apprehend the culprit using a social media platform which proved successful.
The accused Tsering was finally arrested from Likabali with one Maruti Swift after a few kilometres chase. After a thorough interrogation, he disclosed that his actual name is Kalu Chetry, 28 yrs from Sonitpur district in Assam and as he was born and brought up in Tawang, he kept his nick name as Tenzing Tsering. 
Further, the SP informed that investigation is still on to recover the rest of the ornaments costing around Rs. 7 lakhs and one Brown Belt (Ugpi) costing around Rs. 40,000 from the receivers who are currently out of the town due to the ongoing Panchayat elections.
